On January 26, 2026, our lives changed in a way no family is ever prepared for—my husband, Melvin, was diagnosed with throat cancer.

Melvin is the backbone of our family—the provider, the steady one, and the person we all rely on every single day. After multiple doctor appointments and weighing treatment options, we are now preparing to begin the long road toward healing and recovery. We are ready to fight this with everything we have.

Melvin will soon be traveling to Tampa for surgery, where he is expected to remain in the hospital for 7 to 10 days for monitoring and recovery. Following that, he will be unable to work for several months as he continues healing.

As many can imagine, this brings not only emotional stress, but also financial strain. Between medical bills, travel expenses, and the everyday cost of living, things are quickly adding up—especially with our main source of income temporarily gone.

As hard as it is, we are setting our pride aside to ask for help.

Melvin and I have always tried to be there for others. Whether it was fixing a single mom’s car at no cost, helping put food on the table for a family in need, or simply giving our last dollar so someone else wouldn’t go without—we’ve always believed in showing up for people.

Now, we find ourselves in a position where we need that same kindness and support.
