Dear friends and angels,
I’m asking for your help supporting Meg Hartley through a difficult year of recovery and uncertainty.
Meg recently underwent major neck surgery after a high-speed rear-end collision in December 2024. Her procedure included two spinal fusions and a full disc replacement. After 22 months of pain and waiting for relief, she now faces at least eight weeks in a neck brace, significant pain, and a long recovery. She currently relies on a walker and cane.
At the same time, Meg’s appeal for Social Security Disability benefits was denied again last month. She and her attorney are preparing to appeal at the federal level, but that process takes time. She has also been on the Section 8 waiting list for more than six years, and we’re continuing to pursue other housing assistance.
For now, we’re trying to cover her basic monthly needs:
Rent: $625
Other monthly expenses: about $300
Any contribution—one-time or monthly—would help keep Meg housed and cared for while she recovers and pursues the support she needs. Every amount makes a difference.
I’ve watched Meg navigate autism, fibromyalgia, sensory overload, and worsening physical limitations with remarkable perseverance. I can’t walk away from her, and I’m committed to helping her through this. I manage a dedicated account, pay her landlord and many expenses directly, and have power of attorney to help her navigate daily life.
Meg is deeply grateful for the caring people who have supported her over the past several years. If you’re able, please open your heart once more and help us get through the coming year. Your support will help meet practical needs—and remind Meg that she isn’t facing this alone.
Best Regards, Tish Griffin Satre
