On Christmas Eve, our friend and coworker Meech lost his home in a devastating house fire.
Fire crews responded quickly, but when they arrived the house was already fully involved. With no nearby hydrants, multiple tanker units were brought in. Despite their efforts, the home was a total loss.
Meech and his family made it out safely. He suffered burns and bruises. His dogs survived, but heartbreakingly, he lost his two kittens. The home where he raised his children — and was preparing to make memories with his grandchildren — is gone.
Meech has worked with us for nearly 10 years and is known for his positive spirit, constant smile, and the phrase everyone knows: “It’s Meechy, baby.” Even after this tragedy, he returned to work and is currently commuting from Atlanta to Watkinsville so he can continue providing for his family. He is exploring temporary housing options, including a camper, so he can stay on his property and care for his dogs while he rebuilds.
Insurance is involved, but rebuilding will take time. The needs are immediate.
Funds raised will help with temporary housing, daily expenses, medical needs, replacing essentials, and caring for his pets.
Meech has always been the first to help others. Now it’s our turn to help him.
