My name is Nathan and I am writing this on behalf of my Father Alan Anderson my best friend, best man at my wedding, loved by his family-friends and all he meets and greets.
To all my family, friends, community members, and veteran friends,
I have had quite a journey, and I appreciate your time to read my story.
My short vacation to Arizona in December, so that I could get out of the ice and cold in Minnesota with my wife-son Nathan-and new daughter in-law Melissa, didn't go as planned. My vacation started with a medical emergency on the flight down to AZ as I discovered I have hypoxia (oxygen levels drop too low). Fortunately, there were two doctors on the plane and I recovered once I received oxygen. I am forever grateful for their quick action to save my life.
A week later, I got Influenza A and was brought to the ER unresponsive. While being moved from the ER to the ICU, I had a medium-sized stroke. A few weeks later, I was discharged to a rehab facility. After a few more weeks, I was to be discharged from rehab and on the day of my discharge, I had a medical emergency and went back to the ER at a different hospital this time, because of a mucus plug. My experience at the second hospital didn’t go well at all and I didn't sleep for 8 nights because of the poor care and abuse. I was discharged to a different rehab center where I started to progress well again after recovering from delirium. Unfortunately, I got a bacterial infection that caused pneumonia, yet another setback for a week. Just as I started to recover, the 21 days covered by VA at rehabilitation is up as of February 25th. I was transferred today to an acute care/long-term facility. I won't get enough therapy here to recover and need to return to MN where friends and family can help me on my journey.
I want to go home!
The VA and insurance will not cover ground medical transportation to get me back to Minnesota.
I need your help to get me back home please.
