What is there to say about me? It's quite a lot, but starts around 12 or so yrs ago when I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer - papillary thyroid carcinoma, to be precise.

What would occur has been a wild ride of ups, downs, surgeries, treatments, and uncertainties - so much so that I am now off work for the next 4 months, at the very least.

At the end of March, I suffered a seizure at home, in my bedroom, at 5 am. I was taken by ambulance to the ER, but I definitely lost a couple days. A year prior to the, a 3x5 cm tumor was found in my hip, requiring surgery and a rod to be put in. A few months after that, I did a 10 day round of radiation and began chemo. I've had regular blood and oncology visits since that time, on top of lost my teeth, and a host of other things.

I will be completely honest - I do not like asking for help. I try to be a stoic individual who takes care of my own issues because that's how I was raised by my grandfathers. But right now, due to the nature of my work, and the fact that I had a seizure that could affect my cognitive ability, I need clearance by a neurologist. I knew this was the most likely outcome, even prior to my boss stating it, given that I work in insurance and a mistake can cost in the millions. He is paying me for a short term, but I understand that has its limits, so here we are.

I have applied for disability and according to the website, I should easily qualify, but who knows what the reality on that timeline will be? I will be looking at other avenues of work, but again, with having had a seizure, Kim, my doctors, and anyone that might hire me, be it now or in the future, will likely have some concerns, so most of my ideas involve me not needing to depend on another person.

So, there we are. First and foremost, any monies will simply be used to live. I have some trees I need trimmed, a couple vehicles I need repaired, and some repairs I need made to my house. Beyond that, if it did well, I'd probably take a vacation and maybe open a bjj school.
