I never thought I’d be writing something like this, but here we are.
Two days ago, my best friend Matt slipped on the stairs and suffered a very serious injury, breaking both his tibia and fibula in his left leg. These are major weight-bearing bones, and this was not a small fall or a simple break.
Yesterday, Matt underwent over four hours of surgery. While the surgery was necessary, it is only the beginning. There is a long road ahead that will include months of healing, extensive physical therapy, and learning how to walk again. For at least the next year, Matt’s life is going to revolve around recovery.
This kind of injury changes everything. Everyday things—working, getting around, independence—are all going to take time, effort, and patience to regain. There will be ongoing appointments, therapy sessions, and challenges along the way, and it won’t be easy.
If you know Matt, you know how unfair this feels. He is one of the hardest-working and most caring people I know. He’s always there for his family and friends and would do anything to help anyone without hesitation.
Matt did not ask for this fundraiser. This is something we wanted to do for him because right now, he needs the same support he has always given to others.
Any money raised will go toward helping Matt through this recovery—medical care, physical therapy, mobility needs, and everyday expenses that don’t stop just because life hits you hard. The goal is simply to take some of the pressure off so he can focus on healing.
More than anything, Matt needs all the positive thoughts, prayers, and support right now. We’re praying for strength, patience, and a full recovery, and we truly believe that love and support make a difference.
If you’re able to donate, even a few dollars, it truly helps. If you can’t, sharing this or keeping Matt in your prayers means just as much.
Matt has always been there for everyone else—now it’s our turn to be there for him.
