Friends,

We are reaching out to ask for help!

Last Thursday, Mary Jean—a Registered Nurse and devoted mom from the Mount Pleasant area—presented to her local Emergency Room with right-sided weakness and was immediately evaluated for a possible stroke. What doctors discovered, however, was more serious. Imaging revealed two masses in her brain along with associated bleeding, and she was emergently transferred to MyMichigan Medical Center in Saginaw.

Since then, Mary Jean has undergone multiple tests and is currently awaiting a biopsy. Unfortunately, the location of these tumors presents significant risks. The area is critically sensitive, and even entering the brain to perform a biopsy carries the possibility of worsening her existing symptoms. There is strong concern that this diagnosis may end up being cancer, but that is not known today.

Additional testing is underway, and a biopsy is anticipated—hopefully later this week, pending the results of other tests. It is also expected that Mary Jean may need to travel to either the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor or Henry Ford Hospital for specialized, ongoing treatment. She will be returning to her neurosurgeon in Saginaw in the interim for ongoing care.

Due to weakness and difficulty using her right side, Mary Jean is currently unable to work for the foreseeable future. She is also unable to drive or operate a vehicle. Without the ability to work, meeting basic obligations such as mortgage payments, car payments, and everyday living expenses is currently out of reach.

To cover necessities alone, approximately $6,000.00 is needed each month. We are hoping to not only meet but exceed this goal, as significant medical bills will soon begin arriving. Although Mary Jean does have health insurance, she faces a deductible and co-insurance costs exceeding $7,000. In addition, ongoing insurance premiums must continue to be paid so she can receive the care she will need.

Any amount you are able to contribute—no matter how small—is deeply appreciated. Your generosity will help relieve some of the financial burden and allow Mary Jean to focus on what matters most right now: her health, her recovery, and her family.

Thank you for your prayers, support, and kindness during this incredibly difficult time.
