We are asking for help for our mom, Marilyn, who is bravely fighting stage 4 cancer. This diagnosis has turned our world upside down, and the speed of her decline has been heartbreaking.
Just two weeks ago, she was walking, talking, and active. Today, she is wheelchair-bound, unable to move her limbs, and no longer eating or drinking. Her mind has become increasingly foggy, and it’s getting harder to have conversations with her. Watching this happen so quickly has been devastating for our entire family.
Marilyn’s cancer has spread to her brain, lungs, glands, and left breast. She has over 20 lesions in her brain, causing swelling, memory loss, and difficulty speaking. She is currently at Archbold Hospital in Thomasville, Georgia, where doctors are recommending two weeks of whole brain radiation.
The care she needs is intense and ongoing. Treatments are five days a week, with a 45-minute to hour-long drive each way from Bainbridge to Thomasville. Between travel, rising gas costs, and medical expenses not fully covered by insurance, the financial burden is quickly becoming overwhelming.
Her husband of 44 years, Van, has been by her side every step of the way.
Marilyn is a loving mother to her three daughters—Ava, Janice, and Savannah—and a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren: Madison, Ryder, Emma, Holly, Jaxon, Benelli, Annie, Ripp, and Noah. Savannah is also expecting a baby boy in October, who will be Marilyn’s 10th grandchild.
Our family is doing everything we can. Savannah, who lives next door with her family of five and is pregnant, is helping as much as she can. Janice has traveled from New York with her family of six to be here, and I will be coming in May with my family to help as well. We are all trying to balance our own families while making sure our mom is surrounded by love.
We are asking for help to cover medical care, travel, and the support Marilyn needs during this time. Any donation or share means more than we can express.
Please keep our mom in your thoughts and prayers. We are holding onto every moment with her.
