My name is Maria and I am 31 years old from Corpus Christi. I am a single mom to 4 kids. They are 11, 9, 6, and 4 years old. After many trips to the ER just to be sent home time and time again, on November 17, I went back to the ER because I could hardly walk or move. I demanded for them to run tests and give me answers. That’s when everything took a turn beyond worse than I could imagine. I was transferred to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. After plenty of tests, the doctors told me I am in the early stages of type B-cell lymphoma and leukemia. I am starting chemotherapy within the next couple of days, which will require me to stay in Houston much longer to receive the treatment I need.
I’ve been away from my kids and that has felt like a nightmare and what feels like a lifetime to a mother. It hurts even more that I won’t be home for Christmas with them.
All of this happened so fast and I’m trying to stay strong. I know things will get worse before they get better, but I have faith and I know I will fight and beat this.
For now, this means no income is coming in to support my family, bills are piling up along with upcoming medical expenses. If you can find it in your heart to donate, it would mean so much. If you can’t, that’s OK too; you can say a prayer for me. Thank you so much for hearing me out.
