We are raising funds to support our daughter and sister, Marcela, who has spent the last 45 days in the ICU following a series of devastating medical events.
During this time, her kidneys began failing, she suffered three strokes from blood clotting in her neck and brain and went into cardiac arrest twice due to fluid buildup around her heart. When she was younger, Marcela was diagnosed with antiphospholipid syndrome and that diagnosis was recently upgraded to catastrophic antiphospholipid syndrome. Catastrophic Antiphospholipid Syndrome (CAPS) is extremely rare, affecting less than 1% of all antiphospholipid syndrome
(APS) patients, and occurs in roughly 5 per million of the general population.
Marcela is now focused on recovery and urgently needs to be admitted to inpatient rehabilitation so she can continue healing and working towards getting back to her life and career. She is a pre-K teacher who loves her work and is eager to return to living her best life.
The funds raised will go directly toward medical and rehabilitation expenses, helping ease the financial burden as she recovers.
Any support—whether through a donation or sharing this fundraiser—is deeply appreciated. Thank you for helping our family support Marcela during this time.
