My name is Madison Warner. On June 25th of 2025 I shared a post made by the family band, The Hunts, with my commentary that this behavior should not be celebrated but rather, acknowledged for what it is.
The post read as follows:
“I dont have the energy to be eloquent about this.
In my opinion, Josh Hunt, lead singer of the family band The Hunts, has succeeded in his efforts to groom a child into marrying him when they hit adulthood. This is not the first time Josh has attempted to groom a child into a relationship.
I believe Josh started “pursuing” this child when she was 15/16 and he was 29/30. Religion coated pedophilia is still pedophilia. The church community Josh and I grew up in (Redeemer Church) has failed miserably in the handling of this entire escalation. The church is a breeding ground for this behavior and we see it time and time again. Will we ever hear it mentioned form the pulpit? Will there ever be accountability for the making of these monsters?
His family and friends are cheering him on. They are slapping gods name on their defense of what is blatant grooming in my opinion and calling it good. Shame on them. Shame on Josh. Shame on the Hunts. Shame on the friends, parents, pastors, and leadership who never said anything to stop this and quietly stood by or even showed their support.
This must end. This can NOT continue to be normal in religious communities. A man in his 30’s courting a little girl who shares a bedroom with her kid sister longing for the day she turns 18 is nothing but despicable. If you see “holiness” here, shame on you. I could say so much about this. But for now, I’m just so ashamed of the community I’ve come from, sickened, angry, and sad.“
The post garnered immediate hostility from several members of the family that was quickly followed by a $50,000 defamation lawsuit. I hired a lawyer and stood by my words. The day before the case was scheduled to proceed, they filed a nonsuit effectively ending the process.
As of last week, they have filed a second defamation suit in response to my original posts. However, this time they have increased the monetary threat by 5x ($250,000) in hopes of a different outcome. I can only assume this is their attempt to use money, power, and the legal system to strongarm me into silence. This is not the first time they have used the legal system to silence public descent.
Unfortunately, the Hunt family has a history of using their money and position to silence others voices. They are aware that most people are unable to financially defend themselves against a suit of this size. I am committed to calling out wrong when I see it and I refuse to allow them to continue this behavior.
I have retained an attorney, and he has discussed with me the probable costs of defending myself easily rising into the 10's of thousands. These issues are far too important to allow money to stand in the way. I am asking for any support you can offer as I fight against these allegations but more importantly, fight for the truth.
