It is not easy to ask for help, but right now, someone that we love and care for very deeply needs our financial help. Chris, Gillian and I are reaching out to all of you to ask for your support for someone who is very special to all of us, our beloved Maddie. Maddie is one of Gillian’s closest friends. Maddie has had to face circumstances no one should have to endure and the financial burden has only added to the weight that she is currently carrying. Maddie has experienced a tragedy that no child should ever have to endure.

On May 16, 2024, Maddie’s life was tragically and forever changed. Maddie lost her adored dad in a devastating and traumatic way, at the hands of her own mom. This was a devastating and traumatic loss that will forever change the course of her life. In an instant, the security and stability she once knew vanished. Maddie now faces the heavy reality of being all alone and navigating life on her own financially. Maddie is now responsible for supporting herself while trying to process trauma and loss. No young adult should have to navigate such unimaginable loss. Right now, Maddie needs compassion in action.

In the middle of grief and loss, Maddie is facing many challenges. What should have been a season of building her future has instead become a fight to simply stay afloat. With her family structure shattered, she is now facing adulthood completely on her own and is solely responsible for her financial future.

Maddie carries significant financial responsibilities that no young person should have to shoulder alone. She carries graduate school loan debt and thousands of dollars in mounting legal fees related to this heartbreaking situation. At the same time, her beloved dog, Tanner, a steady source of comfort and her lifeline is battling cancer, resulting in mounting veterinary bills. As she prepares to begin veterinary school at Texas A&M, she will be taking on substantial student loans for tuition and living expenses, while still managing monthly obligations like her car payment, car insurance and health insurance, all without the parental support that most young adults rely on during this season of life.

Maddie remains determined to move forward and pursue her dream of becoming a veterinarian. She is working tirelessly to create stability for herself while carrying burdens far heavier than most her age. We are asking for your support to ease the financial burden that Maddie now carries alone, so she can focus on healing, continue her education, care for Tanner and honor her father’s memory by building a meaningful future. Any contribution, no matter the size, will help provide stability, relief and a chance for Maddie to focus on healing and building a future her father would have been so proud of.
