Standing with Lynn Through Cancer Treatment
$1,888 raised of
My name is Lynn Remmey. I am a mother, a sister, a friend and former home health aid living in North Carolina and I need your help.
In 2010, I lost my father Bill to pancreatic cancer. Then in 2023, my mom Jan passed due to lung cancer. And so as it goes, it seems now it's my turn because this July I received my own diagnosis. Squamous Cell Carcinoma. But I have faith that I will overcome it with treatment and support.
It is a very painful cancer infecting my tongue, throat and gums, among many many other less than pleasant effects. My doctors and I are optimistic that the treatments should help, and thus far signs are looking positive.
However between this recent development and a series of personal crises (because it can't rain without pouring) I've had to step back from caregiving and have found myself unable to work more than a handful of hours at a local convenience store. This has left me in the precarious position, between the minimal work opportunities and the regular and upcoming treatment regimen, as everything between keeping myself fed to keeping myself housed has come into jeopardy.
My friends and family have helped as much as they can, as they like so many of us are dealing with their own struggles, so it was my brother suggesting I turn to the kindness of strangers that lead me here. I am hoping with your help, I can weather this storm until life returns to it's track. I can fight this, I can beat this, but until that day when it's over, I am not sure how else I'll survive.
It is almost ironic that as I stare down this one menace lurking in my body, that the more immediate threat comes from simply trying to get by in these times when life refuses to cut you a break. I'm not asking for a break, really. Just your help in getting through this trying time, hopefully with my head held high, without needing to worry where I’ll sleep.
I thank you for taking the time to look at my page and hear my plea. I've never been one to ask for help, but as my brother said, quoting his favorite book, "the day we stop helping each other, is the day we stop being human." So I hope that if you cannot support this campaign financially, you consider at least sharing it where you can. Every little bit helps, so I thank you again, if only for your time.
-Lynn
