Hi, my name is Dawn and I am asking for help. My friends Lisa and Jeff are going through hard times. Jeff is in heart failure and Lisa is home taking care of him and not working. They need help to pay their everyday bills. Any little bit will help. Below are words from Jeff's mom.
.....It is with great sadness and a very heavy heart to tell you all that we will be coming home but not the way we planned, but he is going home.
He will be traveling by ambulance. He said it's his first time riding in one, and I said, well, not exactly; you don’t remember, but you did at 2 months old.
Our third miracle occurred after lots of effort by the Social Worker, Jennifer, and Dr. Anakova, who is the head of Adult Cardiology here at Ochsner Hospital.
Her assistant April was also a driving force with Hospice.
The day nurse, Andy, and night nurse, Kristy, have been more than kind. They have given me sheets for the hospital bed, supplies, sat with me, cried with me, and most of all, taken the best care of Jeff.
So many people to thank and so much to be grateful for.
Dr. Anakova went down to the pharmacy and would not let me use a credit card. I have no idea how I am getting his meds and morphine.
I want to thank you all for loving my son, especially Lisa and Tim. Blood doesn’t make a family, but love does, and they loved him unconditionally.
Tomorrow we will celebrate Christmas with Jeff, and hopefully, you can all see him. He does wake up but not for long. I cannot answer any questions about time, but I can tell you he received three miracles, three gifts from three very wise doctors.
Special thank you to Dr. Young, whom Jeffrey had known for 30 years; Dr. Houyot, whom he has known for 3 years; and Dr. Anakova, whom he met during this stay for 8 days. He said she was not a rat like the other two. She showed up every day. He called Dr. Young a rat for not showing up Sunday and going to a Saints game. Dr. Houyot is a rat because he was a student of Dr. Snyder’s, who really was not your typical doctor (first one I ever met that cussed). Jeff loved that, but funny, Jeff loved him, and he was the King Rat.
Tonight will change our Christmas Eve forever, but I will not look at it as something I can’t celebrate but one that my son, Jeff, had gifts brought to him by three wise doctors. They made his wish come true.
Pray for Lisa and the kids; this will be hard on them, and they will need everyone’s support. I am leaving this text with a picture of Jeff that was taken with Lisa, but I cut her out. Sorry, Lisa. This is how I will remember him; no, this is how he would want to be remembered. He looks so good here.
Merry Christmas, everyone! I will be looking for that star that shows us the way home. for my friends.
