Hi everyone,
If you live in Everett, there’s a good chance you know my dad, Lew, and have tasted the love and hard work he puts into Lew’s BBQ.
My dad runs the restaurant almost entirely by himself, however his lovely wife Karen helps him serve up the meals with a smile. But from prepping the meat in the early morning hours, to creating the perfect plate, Lew’s BBQ isn't just his job, it’s his passion, his pride, and his livelihood.
Recently, our family received news that hit us hard — my dad was diagnosed with rectal cancer.
His doctors have set up an aggressive treatment plan that includes starting both radiation and chemotherapy right away. Because he operates the restaurant as a one-man show, undergoing treatment means he won't physically be able to keep the doors open. Lew’s BBQ will have to temporarily close for about one to two months while he focuses on his health and recovery.
As any small business owner knows, when the doors close, the income stops — but the bills don't. Between overhead costs to keep the restaurant afloat, personal monthly bills, and incoming medical expenses, this pause puts an overwhelming financial burden on him at a time when he needs to focus 100% of his energy on fighting cancer.
We are starting this GoFundMe to help cover:
• Monthly rent, utilities, and overhead for Lew’s BBQ so his dream is still waiting for him when he heals.
• Basic living expenses and medical bills while he is unable to work during chemo and radiation.
My dad is used to taking care of everyone else and has been serving the Everett community for 14 years, so asking for help doesn't come easily to him. But something that has always kept him strong is the support of family — not only here in Washington, but also the family and church community in South LA who helped shape him into the man he is today. Their love, faith, and encouragement have been a foundation throughout his life, and during this battle, their prayers and support continue to lift him up.
Right now, he needs our community’s support more than ever so he can rest, heal, and beat this without losing everything he has built.
Every single donation, share, and kind word means the world to us. Even if you aren't able to donate, sharing this page with your friends and family in the Everett area makes a huge difference.
Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts for supporting my dad during his battle. We can't wait for the day he’s healthy, back behind the counter, and serving up BBQ for everyone again.
With gratitude,
The Family of Lew
