Dear Family, Friends, and Community,
If you know Lee Day, you know she is one of the kindest, most sincere, and caring people you could ever meet. She is the one who shows up, who checks in, who remembers the small things, and who quietly makes life better for everyone around her.
On Friday, February 20th, our world changed in an instant.
While walking Nellie, her three-year-old lab, in her Tucson neighborhood, Lee was struck by a passenger truck. She suffered severe, life-altering injuries and was rushed to a Level-1 trauma center, where she underwent emergency brain surgery to stop significant bleeding.
By the grace of God and the extraordinary work of her medical team, Lee survived the surgery. She remains under 24-hour care in the ICU and has begun what will be a long and challenging road to recovery...working to regain strength, mobility, and cognitive function.
In the first days after the accident, we were at the hospital by Lee’s side - meeting with physicians, navigating paperwork, and helping manage the many urgent decisions that had to be made. Because we live far away, we have not been able to remain there, and much of that daily responsibility has now fallen on Weston and her sister’s shoulders.
While the doctors and nurses care for Lee around the clock, “Team Lee” - her husband Weston, her sister Erin, her children, and her grandchildren, are doing everything we can to support and advocate for her.
Lee’s oldest son and his family live in Boise, and her children Austin and Cassie live in California. Supporting Lee and Weston from afar has required frequent travel to Tucson (airfare, gas, lodging, and time away from work and family).
We are hopeful that insurance will cover the bulk of Lee’s medical expenses. This fundraiser is simply to help offset the travel costs so her family can continue showing up — sitting at her bedside, advocating for her care, and surrounding her with the love that has always defined her life.
From the bottom of our hearts, any amount you feel led to give will make a meaningful difference. Your generosity allows us to focus on what matters most: helping our mom, grandmother, wife, and friend fight her way back.
Thank you for loving Lee and for standing with our family during this time.
With deep gratitude,
Carson & Kim (son and daughter-in-law)
Austin & Juli (son and daughter-in-law)
Cassie & Garrison (daughter and son-in-law)
