My name is Alisha Vars (Meyers) and for those who may not know, Kylah Meyers (daughter of Josh and Salome Meyers) was recently diagnosed with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia) after not feeling well and spending a couple of days admitted to the hospital in Duluth.
After a few days and getting her feeling better, they did a bone marrow biopsy which helped in the diagnosis. Once the results came back, the doctors had her scheduled with an oncologist in the cities that next day where they wasted no time getting her admitted and her treatment started. On 12/19, Kylah was admitted and had her first chemo treatment. She will undergo 10 days of chemo followed by 20 days of monitoring, at which time, if she is doing okay, she can go home for a week before returning and starting the cycle again. The doctors have said she will go through this cycle for at least 6 months, but it could take up to a year. If the cancer shows that it is responding to the chemo, they are optimistic that she will go into remission; if not, they will look at a stem cell transplant as another option.
This will be a quick but long road, and I am hoping that we can help take some of the stress of medical bills and any other expenses she may incur while not working off her and the family's mind so they can focus on her treatment and recovery. Please send prayers for her and her family while they navigate through this process.
