Hello everyone, my name is Jim Darga and I am starting this fundraising effort on behalf of my cousin Kristen Darga. I took it upon myself to do this for Kristen not just because I care about her and would like to help her get through this difficult period, but also because using technology exacerbates the symptoms of her medical condition.
Last October, Kristen began to feel symptoms of an illness which soon became debilitating. As a result of her medical condition, she has not been able to work since the onset of the illness. Compounding the problem, it took three months to see and get an accurate diagnosis from a neurologist. At this point Kristen’s diagnosis of central vestibular dysfunction with hypersensitivity to visual stimulation, causes dizziness in addition to problems with coordination and balance. Kristen is currently being treated with medication and specialized physical therapy, to mitigate the symptoms. The medical team she is working with is very confident she will make a full recovery, and be able to reestablish a normal lifestyle. However, it will probably take another several months before she can return to work even on a part time basis.
Kristen has worked hard all of her life, and has had to overcome other serious life challenges without ever asking for help. With the combination of savings and short term disability insurance benefits she has been able to adequately cover her living and medical expenses, up until this point. However, her savings is now nearly depleted. I sincerely feel providing her financial support until she can return to full time employment is a reasonable request Any funds raised will be used to cover Kristen’s ongoing medical and living expenses.
Kristen will appreciate any support you can provide her as she fights through this difficult period. At this time, it is more important for her to focus her mental energy on achieving a full recovery, rather than worrying about paying bills.
