Our dear friend Krista is going through the unimaginable. Krista is currently on ECMO life support in the UCLA ICU, fighting Anti-Synthetase Syndrome (PL-12/Ro-52)—a severe autoimmune condition that has devastated her lungs. After a rapid decline at Loma Linda Murrieta, she was airlifted to UCLA on April 25th in a desperate bid for survival. Her ultimate goal is a life-saving double lung transplant, but the medical team requires her to be ambulatory just to be evaluated for candidacy. Achieving mobility while hooked to life support in an ICU bed is a monumental challenge, but Krista is fighting with unmatched courage every single day.

As a friend of Krista and her family, I wanted to create this fundraiser to help support them during this incredibly difficult time. As they remain by Krista’s side, they are focused on being present for her, supporting one another, and being the voice and strength she needs right now.

With extended hospital stays, time away from work, travel, meals, and many unexpected expenses, the financial burden has quickly become overwhelming for the family. Although many of us may not be able to be there physically for Krista and her loved ones, we can still come together to help ease some of that stress so they can focus entirely on what matters most — being there for Krista.
