Standing with Kevin: Health and Farm Support

My name is Kevin Easley. I am an organic, no-till farmer that has been growing vegetables for the Wenatchee Valley for 9 years.

On December 23rd, I contracted Covid-19 and the mutated super flu. Two weeks later, I came down with pneumonia. After a week of fighting pneumonia, I passed out at home and was admitted to the ICU with an upper GI bleed on January 17th. I was anemic, and my heart was in tachycardia. I was very near death. Doctors had to do everything to keep me from passing: 5 blood transfusions, plasma, antibiotics, fluids, CT scan, x-rays, blood tests every 6 hours, etc. I received an endoscopy on Sunday the 18th that revealed a large hole in my small intestine. The fantastic doctors and nurses were able to patch it and continued to monitor me until January 21st when I was discharged. I am now resting and recovering at home and feeling much better.

Unfortunately, as a self-employed farmer, I do not have health insurance and must bear the burden of massive medical bills. I am also less than a month away from starting our farming season with a monumental list of tasks to prepare for the upcoming growing season.

I would be eternally grateful for any support you can provide, monetarily or helping out on the farm. We have received so much support and love at the farmer's market from our great customers. We love growing food for this great valley and want to continue doing so.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and sending any support, no matter how big or small.

Love,
Kevin & Miranda
