Our family is asking for support during an incredibly difficult and uncertain time. My stepdad is currently battling end-stage liver failure, which has begun putting serious strain on his kidneys as well. Since January 15th, he has been in and out of the hospital, often for long stays of 8–10 days at a time. Unfortunately, despite trying multiple medications, his sodium levels remain dangerously low and his health continues to be closely monitored.
Because of his condition, he has been unable to work for the past three months. He has always been a hardworking provider, employed at Harmar Mobility, a company that manufactures and distributes mobility equipment like stair lifts and vehicle lifts that help people maintain their independence. Right now, however, he is the one who needs help.
My mom has been doing everything she can to hold things together as the only one currently bringing home income, while also supporting him through frequent hospitalizations and the emotional toll of this illness.
To make things even more difficult, the hospital providing his care is about an hour away from their home, meaning frequent long drives, time away from work, and additional travel expenses while navigating this already overwhelming situation.
At 57 years old, he still has so much life ahead of him. He is excitedly preparing to become a grandfather for the first time, his daughter, Kendra, is due to have his first grandchild in August. He has also built a loving life with my mom—they have been together for 14 years and engaged for 6. Our family is holding onto hope as doctors evaluate him for a liver transplant, which could give him a second chance at life.
The funds raised will go toward:
• Medical expenses
• Household bills during this time without his income
• Travel expenses for the frequent hospital trips
• Transportation and care needs, including the 24/7 care he will require after a transplant
• Other costs related to ongoing hospitalizations and recovery
This has been overwhelming for our family, and any support whether through a donation or simply sharing this fundraiser means more than we can express.
Thank you for helping us support someone who has always worked hard, loved deeply, and now needs his community around him.
❤️ From our family to yours, thank you.
