Hello friends and extended Mardi Gras family,

My heart is heavy as I share this message in support of Keith Gelpi, a dear friend I have known for most of my life. Keith and I have had the privilege of marching side by side in our Mardi Gras organization for decades. During my tenure as president from 1985 to 2000, Keith served as my trusted parade captain—a role he filled with dedication, laughter, and unwavering friendship.

This week, Keith suffered an unimaginable loss. His beloved wife, Donna Becky Gelpi, passed away. In Keith’s own words:

“With a broken heart, I share that I lost my wife, my best friend, and my buddy today. Donna Becky Gelpi was my world, and life will never be the same without her. I will miss her more than words can express. She brought so much love, laughter, and light into my life, and I am devastated by her loss. I’m going to miss her terribly and carry her in my heart forever. Thank you for your prayers and support during this time.”

The loss of Donna has left a void that can never be filled, and I know that many of you—like me—are looking for a way to support Keith in the days and weeks ahead. We have created this GoFundMe campaign to help lighten the financial burden for Keith as he navigates this most difficult time.
