Hello, my name is Rebecca and I am writing this on behalf of my best friend. Her name is Keira. She is 31 and the strongest woman I know and also so humble. She would never ask for anything, but I'm not like that. I recognize when a good person deserves help. Keira has stage 4 metastatic breast cancer that first spread to the skeletal system (head to toe) and now to the lungs. It feeds off estrogen (it's an estrogen hormone-based cancer) so she has had to have her ovaries removed (couldn't do a full hysterectomy as originally planned due to her surgery team being afraid of fracturing her spine - again). She was diagnosed at 28 years old, on July 19, 2023. There is little to no research in her range for this cancer, as it normally affects postmenopausal women. So in her age range, Keira pretty much is the research.
Keira has had to give up her dog grooming job that was her whole life because of how sick she is. She used to work with horses and even did roller derby before cancer stole her health. One thing I will say about Keira is that she is a fighter. She never let cancer rob her of her joy, smile, or love of life. She is the most amazing woman I know. I have never met anyone like her.
I know how expensive the world is right now so I am not asking for crazy amounts of money. Even $5.00 helps. All I am asking for is something to take the burden off her family. They are the ones who are covering just about everything. I know what it's like to be struggling financially and feeling bad due to dependence on others. Which is why I am the one typing this.
Keira - we are all rooting for you. We are all in your corner and praying for a life free of cancer one day. You are so loved and deserving of a beautiful life.
