Thank you to everyone who has and continues to support me in anyway.
My name is Kailyn but I go by Kai Rae. I am 23-years-old and have two rare genetic conditions called Stickler Syndrome and Weissenbacher-Zweymüller Syndrome. Along with these, I face many health challenges and secondary conditions. These include, but are not limited to SMAS, MALS, and intestinal failure. I am TPN (IV nutrition) dependent and have two feeding tubes as well. My health has declined significantly, and my only chance at improving my quality of life is a major open abdominal surgery in Pittsburgh. We are hoping this 2-in-1 surgery for two of my compressions keeps me stable enough to avoid transplant surgery, at least for a while. I will be out-of-state for quite some time for pre op, surgery, post op, and scheduled visits to UPMC. With medical travel and being out of work, bills pile up. My family and friends will also be taking time off to come up and be with me post-surgery, Any support is greatly appreciated.
