Standing with Justin Through His Challenges

Hi everyone, my name is Holly.
I have had the privilege of calling Justin my friend for over 20 years. If you know Justin, you know he is the definition of selfless. He is the kind of person who gives more of himself to others than he has to give. His dedication to service is so great that he just received a Presidential Citation from the President of Optimist International for his service to our community.
I am starting this fundraiser because Justin is simply not the type of person to ask for help. Even right now, facing his own crisis, he is more concerned with what he can do for others than what he needs for himself.
Recently, life has hit him with a perfect storm of challenges. After unexpectedly losing his job of over six years, Justin worked hard to secure a new position running a bar and bowling alley. Unfortunately, the venue has not fully opened yet, which has left him without a steady income stream just as a series of emergencies struck.
About a month ago, Justin had to undergo emergency dental surgery. Then, just early last week, he was rushed to the hospital for a life-threatening emergency appendectomy. While we are so thankful that he has health insurance to cover the surgeries, the recovery has severely limited his mobility and his ability to prepare for his new job or to continue the property management duties he had.
Perhaps the hardest part for Justin is that his physical limitations are preventing him from keeping his commitments to the several non-profits he is involved with. For someone who lives to serve, being unable to show up for his community is taking a serious toll on his mental health.
This timing is also incredibly difficult because Justin is the sole caretaker for his father, who moved in with him after suffering a stroke a few years ago.
I am setting up this GoFundMe to help Justin keep his household running. Since the medical bills are being handled, 100% of these donations will go directly toward essential living expenses and bills to keep things stable until Justin is healed and the new business is fully open.
I would love to see us give back to him the way he has given to so many of us over the years. Any amount helps relieve the pressure on him right now so he can focus on healing, taking care of his dad, and getting back to doing what he loves most—helping others.
