It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Juan, a beloved father, husband, son, brother, and friend, after a 10-month battle with terminal cancer.

Juan was an eccentric individual, full of curiosity, varied interests, and a charismatic presence that left a mark on everyone he met. He experienced and expressed every range of emotion in a big way and leaves behind a legacy carried forward through his four children and the many lives he touched.

He is survived by his wife, Raquel, of nearly 20 years, their four children, his mother, siblings, extended family, and a wide community of friends who are now grieving this loss.

Like many long-term relationships, their marriage held both love and complexity. In recent years, they had begun navigating difficult seasons and changes within their relationship, something that is not uncommon in life, though often kept private. What remains undeniable, however, is Raquel’s care, compassion, and humanity that continued through it all.

When Juan’s diagnosis became known, Raquel stepped forward with compassion and strength. She ensured his wishes were honored, protected his dignity, and remained present through the most difficult chapter of his life. She made it possible for their children to spend meaningful time with their father, to stay connected, and to witness love, care, and grace in action. In the truest sense of the vows “in sickness and in health,” she showed up, steadily and selflessly, until the very end.

Now, Raquel faces a path many do not fully understand. She is a young widow guiding her children through trauma and grief while also navigating her own complex grief. She is carrying the weight of holding her children’s hearts while also securing their day-to-day stability and basic needs.

Today, Raquel and the children are not only facing deep grief but also difficult financial hardship, including housing instability, food insecurity, and the ongoing need for therapy as they process both past trauma and this fresh loss. They are also navigating extended family dynamics, where grief is sometimes expressed in less gracious ways.

This is a moment for community.

It is easy, in times like these, for stories to be incomplete or misunderstood. What this family needs now is compassion, stability, and support.

We are asking for help to lift some of the immediate burdens this family is facing. Contributions will go toward:

• Funeral expenses
•Securing stable housing
• Providing food and daily essentials
• Covering therapy and emotional support services for the children
• Assisting with basic living expenses during this transition

If you are able to give, share, or support in any way, it would mean more than words can express.

Let us come together to surround Raquel and her children with the kindness, dignity, and care that every family deserves, especially in moments of loss.
