My name is Joshua Glover, a follower of Jesus and a Christian Soccer Coach with a heart and calling to Sports Ministry in the role of Head Coach at Concordia University
I am humbly asking for support during an unexpected and difficult season in my life.
After being denied my Green Card, I lost my legal status in the United States and was required to leave the country within 33 days of the news. This came as a devastating shock, both personally and professionally, especially because I feel deeply called to my ministry at Concordia University. I returned to England on December 17th.
At Concordia, I have the privilege of serving as a collegiate coach where I disciple, mentor, and evangelize to the young men I lead. Our core values of "Together, Accountable and Resilient" are inspired by our team scripture of Galatians 6:9 and it is something that we actively pursue and pray will permeate all we do. This role at Concordia is far more than a job to me, it is a calling to build the Kingdom of God through sports ministry, and a calling to walk alongside these athletes and point them to Jesus.
The University have been incredible in this process and have expressed that I am the coach they have prayed for and want me here in this role. Due to a required $100,000 fee, pursuing an H-1B visa is not possible, as the university is unable to cover that cost. After consulting with multiple immigration attorneys, it became clear that the best and most viable path forward is pursuing an O-1 Visa.
I am incredibly grateful that Concordia University has been so supportive throughout this process. They have agreed to sponsor my O-1 visa, cover all USCIS filing fees, and even hold my position until March 1st. However, I am personally responsible for the $7,000 in attorney fees required to prepare and file my case.
I have been referred to a top immigration law firm, and the senior associate attorney has assured me that, while nothing is guaranteed, I have a strong case. The firm has successfully handled O-1 visas in athletics before. Because of the extensive documentation required, I must move quickly to work with the attorney from England in order to meet the March 1st deadline.
The circumstances surrounding my Green Card denial and sudden departure from the U.S. have already placed a significant financial burden on me, which is why I am humbly asking for help.
Any support, financial or through prayer, would mean more than I can express.
While this has been a challenging season of life I find hope in the Lord and his promise in Romans 8:28 "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose"
Thank you for standing with me during this season and for helping me continue the calling God has placed on my life.
