Help a Small Business Owner Recover After a Serious Work Injury
My name is John (legally Ivan), and I’m a small business owner and contractor in Sacramento, California.
For the past few years, I have been building my business from the ground up — working on job sites myself, meeting clients, handling estimates, and supporting my family through honest, hard work.
Earlier this year, while working on a job, I fell from a roof and suffered a severe leg injury. I underwent surgery and am now facing a long recovery period. Doctors estimate up to 9 months before I can safely return to work.
Because I am self-employed, this injury didn’t just affect my health — it completely stopped my income. My business is currently unable to operate without me, and medical bills continue to arrive for surgeries, hospitalization, and rehabilitation that were not fully covered by insurance.
My wife works full-time and does everything she can to support us, but the reality is that we are struggling to cover basic living expenses, rent, medical costs, and existing financial obligations while I recover.
I have never asked for help like this before. We have always tried to rely on ourselves and give back whenever possible. But this injury has placed us in a position where we truly need support to get through this recovery period.
Funds raised will help cover:
• Medical bills and rehabilitation expenses
• Basic living costs during recovery
• Rent and essential household expenses
• Keeping our family stable while I heal and work toward returning to full capacity
Any amount helps — and even sharing this page means more than you know.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for any support you’re able to offer.
With gratitude,
John
