This is Jenny. I met her at a gas station two weeks ago. That’s when she told me her story, one that hits harder than anything I’ve ever heard. She lost her legs and fingers (she played piano for 35 years), was in a coma for a year and a half, she’s battling breast cancer, her husband took his own life four years ago, she hasn’t spoken to her daughters in a decade, she was homeless for ten years, and now she’s on the edge of homelessness again. Even with everything stripped from her, she still praises the Lord.
When I asked if she knew Jesus, she immediately said “Yes!” and showed me the worship song she was listening to. Most days she wheels herself to that gas station to display her paintings, hoping to brighten someone’s day and earn a few dollars.
She makes just over $900 a month. Her rent is just about $800. And now she’s been told she owes $2,100 to her housing complex.
At 4pm on December 4, 2025, she will be homeless again unless something changes.
I’ve never seen faith like Jenny’s. Never met someone who has lost so much yet clings so tightly to the Lord. Her life is proof that the light of Christ shines brightest in the darkest valleys. Jenny has changed my life, and I know by the power of Christ we can help change hers.
