My name is Alyssa and I am raising funds on behalf of my sister, Jenna, while she continues to fight active infection from her initial bowel resection surgery from mid December 2025. Jenna has faced hurdle after hurdle while in the hospital and still continues to fight each challenge that comes her way.
Her story:
On December 17, 2025, Jenna was admitted to UCD for a bowel obstruction, inflammation from an Crohn’s flare and removal of a stuck endoscopy pill camera. UCD tried non-invasive retrieval that unfortunately failed and led to surgical intervention. On December 23rd, 2025, they found several bowel strictures and an ulcer that were causing continuous pain and complications. At that time, her surgical team opted for bowel resection of the damaged areas and removal of the pill camera. Jenna’s recovery from that surgery went as expected and she was sent home in the beginning of January. However, her pain continued to worsen and she was readmitted to UCD January 9th with several post surgical abscesses and sepsis. Her hospital journey has continued to escalate, as her body struggled to fight the infections. Ultimately, her body did not respond to the interventions and she needed a second surgery on February 26, 2026 to remove the abscesses. This surgery caused her to have more bowel resection and ultimately end up with an ostomy bag. Unfortunately, the bacteria regrew and a couple more abscesses formed under her surgical site. Her doctors were able to do a debridement of the area, but had to leave her surgical site open to heal from the bottom up to prevent further infection. Jenna continues to fight the infection with help from several broad spectrum antibiotics and drain placement. She still has a way to go with recovery and continues to take it day by day. Through all of this we see God working overtime to provide full and complete healing of Jenna’s body!
Funds raised will help cover Jenna's unexpected medical expenses, car payments, and any other bills and expenses she may have during this difficult time. Any help is greatly appreciated. Our family cannot thank you enough for the support, prayers, and encouragement you’ve sent during this process. We are beyond grateful and cannot begin to express our gratitude to each and every one of you.
