Jen is a longtime teacher for students with visual impairments and diverse special needs who has already undergone three surgeries related to breast cancer and is still at the beginning of her treatment journey. Due to medical leave complications and workplace policy restrictions, she is currently without income while focusing on healing.
Standing With Jen During Her Breast Cancer Journey
Jen is a beloved teacher who has spent over 30 years serving students with visual impairments and complex special needs, and she has always been the first to step in when someone is in need. Whether supporting coworkers, friends, or students’ families, Jen gives generously—often during times when she herself has had very little. Now, she is facing breast cancer and unexpected financial hardship during the fight of her life.
Jen has already undergone multiple surgeries, yet she is still at the beginning of her treatment journey. The road ahead includes continued recovery, appointments, and care that require extended time away from work.
Unfortunately, delays and complications with medical leave and HR paperwork have left Jen without pay during this critical period.
Adding to the difficulty, workplace policies prevent coworkers from donating sick leave unless an employee maintains a minimum number of sick days. Because Jen has already exhausted her sick leave, coworkers who desperately want to help are not allowed to donate their time. This has been a heartbreaking blow—both emotionally and financially.
As a devoted daughter, mom, and proud Mimi, Jen is doing everything she can to stay strong while medical bills and everyday living expenses continue at a time when her energy needs to be focused on healing.
This fundraiser is meant to help bridge that gap. Donations will go toward lost wages, medical-related expenses, and basic living costs while Jen continues treatment and recovery. Any amount—large or small—will make a meaningful difference.
If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser or keeping Jen in your prayers is deeply appreciated.
Thank you for surrounding Jen with love, support, and generosity during this difficult season.
