For more than two decades, Javier Cabra Walteros has poured his life into students, educators, and communities — from his early days teaching in Boston, where he grew up, to leading schools across California as a teacher, principal, superintendent, and now Executive Director of Aspire Public Schools Bay Area.

Javier leads with humanity. He believes schools should be places of belonging and possibility, where learning is alive and every student is seen.

Now, Javier and his family are facing the hardest chapter of their lives. He has been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer.

As he steps away from his role at Aspire to focus on treatment, healing, and time with his loved ones, we are coming together to surround him with the same love and community he has spent his life building for others.
