Hello friends. I have set this up for my brother Jason Collins and his family. My brother is currently in end-stage renal failure. His battle has been ongoing for 4 years now, but has been extremely complicated by dialysis failures and surgeries over the last year. Due to a complicated clotting disorder, he lost vascular access through the left arm. This prompted a new port placement and fistula to the right arm. Unfortunately, this was also complicated and required the removal of two ribs on the right side. This surgery caused thoracic outlet syndrome and left him with limited use of two fingers on the right hand. During this time, he also had to have another toe amputated. Each surgery required him to stop his blood thinners, which caused the need for stents for dialysis access in the right arm. Five stents were placed over three months. Around Christmas, he was advised they could not place any more stents, and he was left with the option of a fistula placement in his leg or peritoneal port placement. He opted for peritoneal placement, which was placed and failed. Another placement attempt will happen in the next 4-6 weeks.

Throughout this process of each surgery, my sister-in-law, who is their source of income, had to take off work for days at a time. She has used FMLA and even picked up a second job, but they have just fallen so far behind they are facing eviction and losing everything. There are also two children involved in this situation. Jason still cannot get on the transplant list, and the harsh reality is, he very well may never make it to the list, and no one in our family is a match to be a living donor. This family is truly in need of help to get caught up on their rent to avoid eviction and the ability to get caught up on other basic living expenses. My sister-in-law is working every available shift since this last surgery, and our family is doing what we can, but it is just more than we can do within a short time frame. I know that most families are struggling in the current economy, but if anyone who sees this has even the smallest amount to please help my brother, it would be tremendously appreciated.
