Jared has always been the kind of person who never meets a stranger and would gladly help anyone in need. For 25 years, he worked at Tru-Bilt, taking pride in providing for his family and being a dependable friend and neighbor. Everything changed when Jared was diagnosed with Stage IV melanoma. After months of surgeries, scans, biopsies, and immunotherapy, our family received the heartbreaking news that the cancer had continued to progress. Thankfully, the team at Northwestern Memorial Hospital has given us hope with a new treatment plan. Jared is beginning targeted therapy with the goal of becoming eligible for TIL therapy, an advanced treatment that offers another opportunity in his fight against cancer.

Because of his illness, Jared is only able to work for KCS, when he can and has no disability insurance. To receive this specialized care, Jared and his partner Dean will be spending extended periods in Chicago near Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The costs of temporary housing, travel, meals, and medical expenses not covered by insurance are quickly becoming overwhelming. Dean and Jared have shared 32 years together, raised their son Dustin. They have always been generous people who quietly helped others whenever they could. Asking for help is something they never imagined they'd have to do.

Watching someone you love fight cancer is heartbreaking, but our family hasn't lost hope. We're asking for your help so Jared can focus on what matters most—fighting this disease. If you're able to donate, no matter the amount, we are deeply grateful. If you can't donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser. Every share, every prayer, and every word of encouragement means more than you know. Thank you for taking the time to read Jared's story and for standing with Dean and Jared during this difficult time.
