This beautiful individual is Jamie Hamner.
In May 2025, Jamie began experiencing pain and numbness in her right foot. She began having difficulty with walking and even wearing shoes became difficult. Jamie sought medical attention and underwent medical evaluations to find an answer. Her medical doctor could not find a reasoning for her concerns, and she was told that there was nothing "to really worry about."
As the months passed, the pain and numbness in Jamie's right foot started to travel up her leg to her hip. Walking became difficult, shoes became painful, and Jamie had difficulty standing for long periods of time. The numbness in her right foot became so bad, she could not feel the pedals when she was driving to work. Jamie sought more medical attention, seeking second opinions, undergoing more tests and assessments to find answers. Doctors kept on informing her that they could not find anything wrong with her, only speculating that it might be a pinched nerve. In all of this, one doctor suggested to Jamie that it may be "all in her head."
In November 2025, Jamie was recommended to see one more doctor from a co-worker, and in her determination to find an answer, she agreed to schedule an appointment with one last hope that this doctor would take her pain and numbness seriously.
After some more tests and evaluations, a devastating answer was found. Jamie had a quarter sized mass on her spine. Jamie was scheduled to have surgery to remove this mass, in hopes that it would begin to alleviate her pain and numbness. In the course of one week, Jamie's condition became worse; her pain worsened, and she lost the ability to walk. Jamie was taken in for emergency surgery to remove the mass on her spine.
It was after this surgery that Jamie was informed that she had cancer. While in the hospital, and after more tests and medical evaluations, it was found that Jamie had cancer in the brain and lungs and that the cancer was spreading to other parts of her body. Jamie is currently battling her cancer with Radiation and Chemo Therapies. She still does not have use of her legs but remains hopeful and determined to "beat this cancer's ass!"
Any donations given will assist Jamie and her husband Walt, with her medical treatment expenses.
Jamie has devoted her life to helping individuals who struggle with substance use. She is a licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA) in Ohio, working at Safe Harbor Recovery in Warren, OH.
