No parent is ever prepared to watch their child fight for their life.
Our 17-year-old daughter Izzie has been hospitalized since November 14, 2025, and the journey that brought us here has already been long and incredibly difficult.
On September 21, 2024, she underwent a double lung transplant. In order to care for her full time and make sure she could attend the many appointments, treatments, and follow-ups required after such a major surgery, I had to leave my job so I could be home with her and get her to where she needed to be. During the time of her transplant and recovery, my husband also had to take time away from work to be by her side, which significantly reduced our income and caused us to fall behind on several bills.
Since then, we have been doing everything we can to catch up.
Then in November, everything changed again.
Our daughter was hospitalized again and from November to now, she has since endured multiple surgeries. She has lost a large portion of her small intestines, and during one terrifying moment, we lost her. Doctors had to perform multiple rounds of CPR to bring her back to us. It was a moment no parent should ever have to experience. At this time she is still trying to heal from the surgery and her medical team are working to determine if she will ever be able to eat food again or if she will have to use IV nutrition for the rest of her life.
Because of everything happening with her health, my husband has had to miss more work so we can be at the hospital with her during these critical moments. Between the lost income, everyday bills, expenses of traveling back and forth and growing medical expenses, we are struggling to stay afloat.
Despite everything she has been through, our daughter is a young woman with big dreams and an incredible spirit. She hopes to become a phlebotomist, and eventually continue growing her career in the medical field. She loves crocheting and creating beautiful things with her hands. And if life ever took her down a different path, we truly believe she could sing professionally — her voice is that beautiful.
She should be worrying about things like her future, her hobbies, and spending time with friends — not fighting for her life in a hospital room.
We are asking for help to:
• Catch up on bills we fell behind on during this medical journey
• Help with ongoing medical and hospital-related expenses
• And, if we are fortunate enough to raise enough, create the dream bedroom she has been imagining, so that when she is finally able to come home, she can walk into a space filled with comfort, peace, and happiness after everything she has endured.
Our daughter has shown more strength and courage than we ever thought possible. We are so grateful for every prayer, donation, and share.
Every bit of support helps us focus on what matters most — helping our daughter heal and bringing her home.
Thank you for standing with our family during this fight.
