Our precious earth angel, Isaiah, is currently fighting a difficult and complex battle in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). He has had to fight his whole life due to a genetic mutation and the complex medical attributes that come with it. Now, he faces another crisis: he was admitted with respiratory failure because his lungs were filling up with blood. Doctors are still running tests, and the exact cause of this bleeding remains unknown.Isaiah has been intubated for six days now and is still unable to breathe on his own. His medical journey has been further complicated by severe IV access issues. His veins collapsed multiple times during attempts to place standard IVs. Because of this, doctors had to place a PICC line running into a vein connected to his heart, as well as an arterial line in his left wrist. Tragically, the PICC line has now caused three blood clots, adding yet another dangerous hurdle to his fight. Additionally, the heavy medications he requires have severely impacted his digestive system, leaving him unable to pass any bowel movements for the last six days and counting.Because he fights against hypotonia (low muscle tone), it took Isaiah years of hard work to learn how to walk. Tragically, this prolonged bed rest is causing severe muscle depletion, setting back all of his hard-earned developmental milestones. As his parents, witnessing multiple respiratory issues throughout his life, we know firsthand how difficult breathing can be for him even on a normal day outside of the hospital. Seeing him lose muscle in this bed is deeply concerning to us, as we know how hard it will be for him to find the physical strength required to breathe on his own when they try weaning him off the ventilator. Additionally, Isaiah suffers from seizures. His medical team must closely monitor him around the clock, as the intense stress on his body puts him at high risk for new episodes.Multiple specialists have told us that this will not be a short journey, but a very long and trying road. Even after he recovers from this respiratory crisis, Isaiah faces extensive rehabilitation. He will need occupational therapy to relearn fine motor skills, physical therapy to relearn how to walk, and speech therapy to relearn how to talk.Because of this sudden crisis, our family is facing a massive financial setback. We are reaching out to our community for help. Your donations will keep us afloat and cover essential costs while we stay by Isaiah's bedside. If you cannot donate, please share this page and keep Isaiah in your thoughts and prayers. We are profoundly grateful for your love and support.
