Standing with Holly Through Her Recovery

Hi everyone,
I am creating this fundraiser for my mom, Holly, during one of the hardest and bravest seasons of her life.

Holly is 100 days sober. The beginning of sobriety is often the hardest part, because all of life’s responsibilities come rushing back at once while you are also learning how to live, cope, and heal without substances. She has worked incredibly hard to get to this point, and now after rehab she is moving into a sober living house so she can continue her recovery and stay on the right path. She will also be attending intensive outpatient treatment and counseling. She is truly trying to rebuild her life and do everything the right way.

Almost two years ago, my mom was involved in a domestic violence incident that left her with a severe stab wound through her right hand. Because of this injury, she has no functional use of her right hand. She is unable to work and is currently fighting for disability, but the process is slow and stressful, and in the meantime the bills do not stop. She has been trying to find work but with her disability, it makes even daily living difficult.

She still has previous bills, including her car payment, past due loan payments, and credit cards that she cannot keep up with right now, and it is all starting to seriously affect her credit. On top of that, she is struggling to afford even the most basic necessities, things like dog food, shampoo and conditioner, deodorant, and other everyday essentials. No one should have to worry about how to afford these simple things, especially while trying to stay sober and heal.

As her daughter, I have been helping her as much as I can, but I cannot do this alone anymore. My mom is one of the most caring, graceful, fun, and kind people I know. She has always been the person who helps others when they are struggling, even when she had very little herself. She is embarrassed to ask for help and would never do this for herself, which is why I am doing it for her.

Right now, she is doing something incredibly brave, getting clean, moving into sober living, and trying to rebuild her life after trauma, injury, and financial hardship. She is working toward the 3 day breast cancer awareness walk in November and has many other goals to strive for. Any support will help her cover basic living expenses, keep her car, care for her dog, and get through this transition while she continues her recovery and waits for her disability case to move forward.

The funds raised will go toward things like,
• Basic necessities like hygiene items, food, and dog food
• Her car payment and insurance so she can keep transportation
• Gas and phone so she can get to appointments and stay connected
• Sober living move in costs and monthly fees
• Catching up on past due bills, loan payments, and credit cards while she is unable to work

Our goal is to raise enough to help cover two months of basic expenses, get her car current, and help her stay stable while she continues recovery and waits for disability.

Anything helps, truly. If you cannot donate, even sharing this means more than you know. Thank you for reading, thank you for caring, and thank you for helping my mom take these next steps toward stability, healing, and hope.
