My Cancer Journey and Need for Support It is very hard for me to ask for help, but recently I was diagnosed with cancer in my female region, and I am now facing one of the most difficult battles of my life. I am preparing to begin 10 weeks of intensive treatment that will include radiation every single day, chemotherapy once a week, and lab work once a week throughout the entire 10 weeks. The last 5 weeks of my treatment will require me to travel and stay in Nashville, far from home, because there are only two locations that offer the specialized radiation I need. During those weeks in Nashville, I will continue radiation every day, chemotherapy once a week, and weekly lab work, all while being away from home and my normal support system. After watching my mother fight different cancers and ultimately losing her last year, my family and I know firsthand how difficult and costly this journey can be. Now I am facing my own battle. I have already been on disability due to other serious health conditions that I deal with on a daily basis, including multiple sclerosis. Because of this, I am living on a fixed income, and these additional medical treatments, travel expenses, lodging, and daily costs during treatment are creating a significant financial burden. I am asking for help to ease some of this financial stress so that my family and I can focus on my treatment, my care, and my healing without the constant worry of how we will afford everything.
