Help Marge Get Back on Her Feet After Cancer, Stroke, and COVID

They’ve been side by side since 1967.

Through decades of life — work, family, community, and everything in between — Marge and her husband have always walked forward together.

And if you know them, you know this:
They are the kind of people who show up. For their neighbors. For their community. For anyone who needs them.

They don’t ask for help.

They give it.

That’s why this is so hard.
At 79 years old, Marge has worked nearly her entire life — since 1964. Even after retiring, she continued working a part-time job because Social Security alone simply isn’t enough to cover everything.

She did what so many do:
She kept going. She kept working. She kept pushing forward.

Then everything changed.

Marge was diagnosed with lung cancer.

She endured months of chemotherapy, fighting with quiet strength. On February 2, she underwent surgery to remove the cancer and part of her lung.

But just as she began that recovery…

She suffered a stroke.

It affected the left side of her body, taking away her independence in an instant.

Instead of going home, she spent all of February and half of March in a rehab facility, working to relearn strength and movement.

And then, heartbreakingly—

She contracted COVID while in rehab.
Cancer.
Surgery.
Stroke.
Rehab.
COVID.
All within weeks.
She is finally back home now.

But life is very different.

Marge is attending physical therapy twice a week, working hard to regain mobility. She cannot drive yet, which means every appointment — therapy, lab work, doctor visits — requires arranging rides and depending on others.

And yet, she still says:

She hopes to return to work by the end of May.

That tells you everything about who she is.
The photo you see above captures something simple — but powerful.

Two people. Walking side by side.
Wearing their Tigers jerseys.
Still showing up for life together.

But look closer.

Marge is walking with crutches.

Even after everything she has been through…
she is still moving forward.
While she has been fighting for her health, another battle has quietly been building:

The financial one.

Because of months without work and overwhelming medical challenges, Marge has used up her savings just trying to survive.

Now she is facing:
• mounting bills
• late notices
• added fees
• and the stress of falling behind

Just before all of this happened, she also had to:
• take out a $2,700 loan to fix her furnace motor
• she still owes $10,000 on her car
• and now needs $2,000 to repair a water system tank

This is not someone who has lived carelessly.

This is someone who has worked hard her entire life — and simply got hit with more than anyone should have to carry at once.
In just a few months, Marge will turn 80 years old.

After everything she has endured, she deserves peace.

She deserves stability.

She deserves a moment to breathe.
This fundraiser is about giving her that chance.

Your support will help:
• cover essential bills and reduce late fees
• support transportation to medical care
• assist with recovery-related costs
• ease the burden of existing repairs and loans
• allow Marge to focus on healing — not surviving
If you know Marge and her husband, you already know the kind of people they are.

If you don’t, just know this:

They are the ones who would have helped you.

Now it’s our turn.
Please donate if you can.

No amount is too small.

And if you’re unable to give, sharing this fundraiser means just as much.

Let’s come together to support Marge — and remind her that after a lifetime of giving to others…

she is not alone.
