Supporting Baby Heidi’s Fight and Her Family’s Strength

In just a few short months, baby Heidi has faced more challenges than most do in a lifetime, but she continues to fight with incredible strength every single day. Her family is standing beside her, navigating the unimaginable with love, faith, and resilience.

Heidi Briggs was born on November 21, 2025, and from the very beginning, she has shown incredible strength. While still in the hospital, she did not pass her initial newborn hearing screenings. This led her family to the ENT team at the Medical University of South Carolina, where Heidi was diagnosed with auditory neuropathy. Further testing revealed profound hearing loss caused by significant damage to the cochlear nerve in both ears. Her care team is now working toward cochlear implants when she is old enough, giving her family hope for her future.

At the end of April, Heidi began experiencing Infantile Spasms, a serious and life-altering condition. Since then, she has been hospitalized multiple times at MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital due to complications. Each day brings new challenges, and while her future remains uncertain, her family is holding tightly to their faith and taking things one day at a time.

During this incredibly difficult time, the financial strain has been overwhelming. Ben has been unable to work as he stays by Heidi’s side, and Sam is balancing work while caring not only for Heidi, but also for their daughter, Adeline. With ongoing hospitalizations, travel, and daily expenses, the weight of it all continues to grow.
