In May of 2024, my sister, Heather, was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma, otherwise known as breast cancer. She battled through it like a trooper, and in November 2024, she rang the cancer bell in victory. As Andrew, her husband, often says, “she’s the toughest woman I know.” In fact, just this last December, Heather had her last surgery to close the book on the end of her journey with cancer.

Unfortunately, in the last week, it was determined that Heather now has leukemia. She was transported to Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, MO, on January 19th, where she will be receiving the best care in the world. Battling cancer once can be a challenge when it comes to bills and everything else you can imagine. This new battle doesn’t get to happen from home; she and Andrew have to stay in St. Louis for a minimum of 6 weeks. Food, hotels, and the hospital bills are going to add up really fast.

Heather has been at Carle over the last 20 years, mostly in the ER, helping those in need. Andrew has been in law enforcement for at least 25 years, serving his community. Hopefully, those that love them and care about them can help to serve them in their time of need. They need prayers, and they need your love, and I’m sure they could also use some financial help to get through this. Any amount helps, and even a prayer would be appreciated. By the grace of God, Heather will beat this as well.
