Last November, just a few weeks after his 20th birthday, a trip to the ER led to a life-changing diagnosis for our nephew Greyson. Greyson was diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive soft tissue sarcoma, called Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumor (DSRCT). This type of cancer is so rare that it affects about one in a billion people worldwide, with less than 500 cases ever recorded.
Since his diagnosis, Greyson has undergone two surgeries and three rounds of chemotherapy at OU Medical Center. Each round of chemo required him to be hospitalized for a week, which has been incredibly tough on him. Despite these challenges, Greyson has shown remarkable strength and resilience.
Because DSRCT is so rare, OU does not have a lot of experience treating it so he has been referred to MD Anderson in Houston for further treatment. The stress of fighting this type of cancer is hard enough without the added financial burden of travel, medical bills, and time away from home. Any support you can offer will help Greyson focus on his recovery. We are very grateful for the continued prayers and well wishes as we support Greyson, Summer and Addilynn through this journey.
