My name is Rhonda Newman, and I am Gretchen Davis’s sister. Gretchen was recently diagnosed with smoldering multiple myeloma, with significant cardiac complications due to amyloid deposits affecting her heart function.
Gretchen has devoted her heart and soul to serving as a special needs educator, offering vital intellectual and emotional support to children and families for many years. By blending her passion for art and music with her teaching, she has been a truly exceptional teacher.
Although smoldering multiple myeloma is considered pre-cancerous and is therefore not covered by cancer insurance, the serious impact on her heart means Gretchen will begin chemotherapy, and we are all hoping and praying it will bring her condition into remission. If it does not, she may need to be placed on a heart transplant list.
During this time, Gretchen will be unable to work, and her family is facing a continued influx of medical expenses. Any financial support to help ease this burden would be deeply appreciated, so she can focus fully on treatment and recovery. Most of all, prayers are sincerely welcomed and appreciated. Gretchen is a strong believer, and it is a comfort to know she has prayers coming in from so many people around the world.
Many thanks for your support,
Rhonda
