Hello, my name is David Welch, and I’m starting this GoFundMe on behalf of my uncle, Gene Young, after a tragic commercial truck accident permanently changed his life.

My uncle worked hard as a professional truck driver, spending thousands of hours on the road to support himself and his family. While doing his job, he was involved in a severe accident that resulted in the loss of one eye and one arm, with the possibility of additional injuries as Gene continues to undergo further surgeries. Because of these injuries, Gene will likely be unable to return to truck driving or work again.

In an instant, everything changed. He is now facing a long and difficult recovery that includes extensive medical care, rehabilitation, prosthetic needs, and the challenge of learning how to navigate daily life in a completely new way. On top of the physical recovery, he is also dealing with the financial strain of being unable to work and needing to find a new path forward.

This fundraiser is to help my uncle with:

• Medical bills and ongoing treatment

• Rehabilitation, therapy, and prosthetic expenses

• Living expenses while he is unable to work

• Long-term recovery and career transition support

My uncle is a strong, hardworking man who would never ask for help unless he truly needed it. Our family is doing everything we can, but the road ahead is long, and the costs are overwhelming.
