Support Fred Muñoz Duran & His Family Rebuild Their Lives Together and Apart
Fred Muñoz Duran is a beloved coworker, a skilled craftsman, a devoted husband, and a proud father. For more than 20 years, Fred has lived and worked in the United States, most of that time alongside Bill Babb and the Better Builders team, earning the respect and trust of clients, colleagues, and community members alike.
Fred came to the U.S. from Mexico as a teenage boy with a simple yet powerful goal: to work hard, contribute meaningfully, and build a better life for his family. He did just that.
As Fred says best himself:
“I like to see our clients’ faces when we present the beautiful final project.”
Fred and his wife, Araceli, have built a life rooted in honesty, dedication, and love. Together, they are raising four children, creating a home shaped by integrity and deep community ties.
On December 4th, Fred was illegally arrested by ICE and taken into custody. After decades of patiently waiting, without response, for lawful work visas, and facing detention in an increasingly harsh immigration climate, Fred made the heartbreaking but courageous decision to self-deport to be released from custody.
Rather than endure indefinite separation, Araceli and their youngest children will join Fred in Mexico so their family can remain together and begin again. Their oldest (19 years old) will remain in the United States, navigating the start of their adult lives without their parents’ daily presence or a traditional support system.
This decision was made from love, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to family unity, but it comes at an enormous emotional and financial cost.
Fred has spent a lifetime building relationships, earning trust, and showing up for others. Now, he and his family are being forced to start over, leaving behind the home, stability, and community they worked decades to build.
The funds raised through this GoFundMe will help:
• Support Fred Muñoz Duran and Araceli as they re-establish their lives in Mexico, including relocation and basic living expenses
• Assist with current and future immigration legal fees, including attorney costs and required filings, as the family works toward lawful reunification.
• Provide stability and care for their four children during this life-altering transition
• Help support their oldest child remaining in the U.S. as they establish safe, stable starts to adulthood without their parents’ daily support
• Ease the financial strain caused by sudden loss of income, forced relocation, and long-term family separation
Fred has always shown up with humility, pride, and generosity. Now, we have the opportunity to show up for him.
In the absence of compassion from the system, we are choosing community, dignity, and care.
Please consider donating or sharing to help this remarkable family move forward together.
Your support will make a real and lasting difference.
