Hi, my name is Kelsey, and I am Frankie’s sister-in-law. While we aren’t related by blood, Frankie has been my brother in every way that matters for nearly 10 years. He’s been a part of my family for so long that I couldn’t imagine life without him.
On August 2nd, our lives changed in an instant when Frankie, only 33 years old, suffered a major heart attack leading to cardiac arrest that left him critically ill and with significant brain damage.
Over the days that followed, our family faced decisions and moments we never imagined we would have to face. Frankie was placed on comfort care, and we prepared ourselves for the possibility of losing him.
But Frankie kept fighting.
Against everything we were preparing ourselves for, he continued breathing on his own, maintaining his vitals, opening his eyes, moving, and showing us that his fight was not over. Frankie has now been taken off comfort care and placed back on regular medical care as we begin navigating what we hope will be his road to recovery.
We know there are still so many unknowns ahead. His recovery may be long, complicated, and look different than any of us imagined. Right now, we are taking things one day at a time and celebrating every bit of progress while continuing to pray for healing.
Through all of this, Frankie’s family has remained by his side as much as humanly possible. His mother is the primary income for her household and had already exhausted her PTO before this happened. The financial burden does not stop because Frankie is fighting.
There are still household bills, missed work, gas traveling back and forth to the hospital, food, transportation, and the many expenses that come with having a loved one hospitalized for an extended period of time. And as we learn more about what Frankie’s recovery will require, there will be an entirely new set of needs ahead.
This fundraiser is now focused on helping Frankie and his family through this next chapter so that their energy can be spent where it belongs — loving him, supporting him, and helping him fight his way forward.
If you are able to donate, no amount is too small. If you cannot donate, sharing Frankie’s story means just as much to us.
We cannot predict what tomorrow will bring, but today Frankie is still here.
He is fighting. We are fighting beside him. And we are holding onto hope. ❤️
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for every prayer, donation, share, message, meal, and act of kindness our family has received.
