Standing With Florence in Her Fight Against Cancer

Donation protected
In October 2025, my niece Florence went for a check up and we were told the shocking and devastating news that they had found a cancerous tumour called Wilms tumour on her kidney. Florence had surgery to remove the affected kidney in December, and we were told that the tumour was high risk. This means that Florence will undergo a vigorous treatment plan for the next 8 months, a combination of intensive chemotherapy and radiotherapy. So far, Florence has already been through more than any child ever should. She has undergone three surgeries and has completed four months of chemotherapy, with eight months still ahead of her. Despite everything, she continues to show incredible strength and bravery, still showing us her beautiful smile every day.

Florence is spending a huge amount of her childhood in hospital. Long admissions, frequent procedures, and exhausting treatments are now part of her everyday life. Any money raised will go directly towards her comfort, wellbeing, and quality of life — things that can make a real difference on the hardest days. This will includes toys, games, activities, comfort items, experiences, and anything else that helps bring her moments of joy, distraction, and normality during her long hospital stays.

Some of the funds will also massively help my sister Demi, and her husband Alex. Florence needs them with her every day, which means stepping away from work and putting everything on hold whilst they prioritise Florence’s health and healing.

Looking ahead, there may also be adaptations and additional support Florence needs — in terms of implications of the treatments, and in the years to come. Childhood cancer can leave long-term effects, and we want to ensure she has the best chance to live a full, happy life beyond this diagnosis.

Lots of people have very kindly asked about fundraising for Florence — from sponsored runs like the Porthcawl 10km to personal challenges and community events. We are also in the process of planning our own event, ‘Row for Flo’. This page has been created as one central place that everyone can use as a base, allowing friends, family, and supporters to raise money in their own way while ensuring everything comes together in one place to go to Florence.

If donating money isn’t something you’re able to do, we would love for people to think about giving blood. Blood transfusions are a regular and vital part of cancer recovery. Even if your blood can’t help Florence directly, it may help another child also sadly fighting cancer.

And if you would rather support charities that are close to Florence’s heart, we completely understand and appreciate any donations directly LATCH, Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital or The Little Princess Trust, who have all already supported Florence and our family in so many ways.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for reading, sharing, supporting, and standing with Florence and our family during this time. Every bit of kindness, in whatever form it comes, truly means more than we can ever say.

-All funds raised will be used solely to support Florence during treatment and recovery, and we will share updates along the way.
