Hi, my name is Lana, and I’m asking for help for the two strongest women I know — my moms, Faye and Renee Brinkley.
They are twin sisters, best friends, and have spent their entire lives caring for others. Now, they are both fighting for their lives at the same time.
Faye has carcinoid cancer. Renee has Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Watching both of them battle cancer together has been the hardest thing our family has ever faced.
Renee recently received a transplant. Because of the transplant, she cannot be left alone during recovery. She needs constant care and monitoring. Faye has not left her side. Even while battling her own cancer and dealing with other health complications, she has put Renee first — just like she always has.
Because of this, Faye has not been able to work for 6 months. Right now, no one in the household is working.
On top of the emotional and physical toll of cancer, they are carrying the weight of financial stress. They have 4 years left on their home and still owe $65,000. The house they worked so hard for. The house filled with memories, holidays, laughter, and love.
I don’t want them worrying about losing their home while they are trying to survive cancer.
I want them to focus on healing. On fighting. On staying strong for each other.
They adopted me and have always opened their hearts to children in need. They are foster parents and preschool teachers who have spent their lives loving and nurturing others. Family is everything to them — their children, siblings, nieces, nephews — they would give the shirt off their back for anyone they love.
Now they need help.
If you can donate, even $5, it truly means more than you know. If you can’t, please share this. Every share increases the chance that we can give them peace of mind during this fight.
My moms have spent their whole lives taking care of others. I’m just trying to take care of them now.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your prayers, support, and kindness.
— Lana
