Hi, my name is Erin. I’m 40 years old, married to my incredible and supportive husband David, and we’re raising our amazing 8-year-old son, Harrison. I’ve been a hairstylist for 16 years—a career I truly love, built on connecting with people, creativity, and hard work.
In 2023, at just 37 years old, my life changed when I was diagnosed with stage 4 papillary thyroid cancer with a RET fusion mutation. Since then, this journey has been anything but easy. I’ve undergone three surgeries, two rounds of radioactive iodine, countless scans and tests, and I am currently on a targeted cancer medication. In the near future, I’ll be starting radiation treatment and Zometa IV infusions due to the cancer spreading to my bones.
Alongside the physical and emotional toll, cancer has deeply impacted my ability to work. As a hairstylist, time away from work means lost income. Between surgeries, required isolation after radioactive iodine treatments, ongoing appointments, and upcoming therapies, I’ve already missed countless hours behind the chair—with more time away likely ahead.
The financial strain has continued to grow. We are still paying off medical bills from last year, and new expenses keep coming. This fundraiser will help cover medical bills (past and present) and also assist with household expenses during times when treatment prevents me from working.
Asking for help does not come easily. But I’ve learned that sometimes strength looks like allowing others to support you. Any contribution—no matter the size—helps ease the burden so I can focus on what matters most: healing, being present for my family, and continuing to fight with hope.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading, sharing, supporting, and standing with us through this journey. Your kindness means more than words can express.
With gratitude,
Erin
